SIILK GALLERY, ATHENS, GREECE, 8-10 October 2021
Always dedicated to the queer arts and culture, constantly seeking to highlight and promote engaging and progressive contemporary art that reflects modern queer culture, The Queer Archive launches its Gallery - a hybrid art gallery aiming to create a large international community of artists whose work touches upon queered or queer-responsive approaches to human existence or manifests meaningful queer interpretations.
Taking advantage of the unique opportunity that the digital space gives us today, our team is dedicated to promoting artists and their work around the world. We welcome both seasoned and emerging artists to showcase and sell their art and to expand their network. In showcasing artists around the world, we also hope to enable stakeholders of the art world to explore new artistic horizons and to be inspired by the work of talented artists.
Among our plans for the future are the production of art exhibitions and events in Greece and elsewhere, the creation of meaningful relationships with artists and art spaces world- wide, the establishment of collaborations with creators and designers. And, of course, all of the above in combination with our annual festival, our film productions and everything else that is The Queer Archive.
The official launch of our Gallery took place on October 8-10 (Opening on 7th, 6pm- 9pm) at Siilk Gallery in Athens, with work of our collaborating artists: Unseen That, George Kanis, Alejandro H. Bascon, Kostis Fokas, The Dreamer, Aaron Moth, Chrysanthos Christodoulou, Nicklas Hultman, Neige Sanchez, Stephie Grape, Tamir David, Stuart Sandford and our new collaboration with Alina Gross, Jason Morris Danino Holt, George Stridaris and George Cassapides.
In addition to the launch of the gallery, we introduced two exciting new collaboraOons, namely with Fashionspaetkauf and The Dreamer together with whom we have crafted limited edition T-shirts, available on The Queer Archive Gallery.
Ultimately, the opening event on October 7th was accompanied by a DJ set by IOTA PHI (aka Ilia Darlin) and a performance by Jason Morris Danino Holt.
Πάντοτε αφοσιωμένο στην queer τέχνη και κουλτούρα, επιδιώκοντας συνεχώς την ανάδειξη και προώθηση ενδιαφέρουσας και πρωτοποριακής σύγχρονης τέχνης που αντανακλά την σύγχρονη queer κουλτούρα, το The Queer Archive εγκαινιάζει την γκαλερί του - μια υβριδική γκαλερί τέχνης με στόχο τη δημιουργία μιας μεγάλης διεθνούς κοινότητας καλλιτεχνών των οποίων το έργο αγγίζει θέματα σεξουαλικής ταυτότητας και φύλου με τρόπο ενδιαφέρον, πρωτότυπο, παιχνιδιάρικο και τολμηρό, και προτείνει νέες, ενδιαφέρουσες προσεγγίσεις της ανθρώπινης ύπαρξης.
Αξιοποιώντας τη μοναδική ευκαιρία που μας δίνει σήμερα ο ψηφιακός χώρος, η ομάδα μας παραμένει προσηλωμένη στην προώθηση των καλλιτεχνών και του έργου τους σε όλο τον κόσμο. Καλωσορίζουμε τόσο καταξιωμένους όσο και ανερχόμενους καλλιτέχνες να προωθήσουν την τέχνη τους και να διευρύνουν το δίκτυο τους. Παρουσιάζοντας καλλιτέχνες από όλο τον κόσμο, ελπίζουμε επίσης να δώσουμε τη δυνατότητα στους ενδιαφερόμενους του κόσμου της τέχνης να εξερευνήσουν νέους καλλιτεχνικούς ορίζοντες και να εμπνευστούν από το έργο ταλαντούχων καλλιτεχνών.
Ανάμεσα στα σχέδιά μας για το μέλλον είναι η παραγωγή εκθέσεων και εκδηλώσεων τέχνης στην Ελλάδα και εξωτερικό, η δημιουργία ουσιαστικών σχέσεων με καλλιτέχνες και χώρους τέχνης παγκοσμίως, καθώς και η σύναψη συνεργασιών με δημιουργούς και σχεδιαστές. Και, φυσικά, όλα τα παραπάνω σε συνδυασμό με το ετήσιο φεστιβάλ μας, τις κινηματογραφικές μας παραγωγές και ό,τι άλλο συνιστά το The Queer Archive.
Η επίσημη παρουσίαση της γκαλερί μας πραγματοποιήθηκε στις 8-10 Οκτωβρίου
( Εγκαίνια 7 Οκτωβρίου 6μμ - 9μμ) στην γκαλερί Siilk στην Αθήνα, με έργα των συνεργαζόμενων καλλιτεχνών μας: Unseen That, George Kanis, Alejandro H. Bascon, Kos{s Fokas, The Dreamer, Aaron Moth, Chrysanthos Christodoulou, Nicklas Hultman, Neige Sanchez, Stephie Grape, Tamir David, Stuart Sandford καθώς και την νέα μας συνεργασία με Alina Gross, Jason Morris Danino Holt, George StriÑaris και George Cassapides.
Παράλληλα, εγκαινιάζουμε δύο νέες συναρπαστικές συνεργασίες, συγκεκριμένα με τα brands Fashionspaetkauf και The Dreamer με τα οποία δημιουργήσαμε limited T-shirts, διαθέσιμα στο The Queer Archive Artshop.
Τέλος, η εκδήλωση πλαισιώθηκε από ένα DJ set απο την IOTA PHI ( γνωστή και ως Ilia Darlin) και μια performance απο τον jason Morris Danino Holt.
