Australian-born Māori artist based in Naarm/Melbourne, J Davies explores themes of identity, intimacy, and neurodiversity through a queer, trans, First Nations lens. Their multidisciplinary practice centres joy, connection, and the politics of archiving lived experience, often uplifting stories at the margins. Their work has been exhibited at the National Gallery of Victoria, Centre of Contemporary Photography, Recontres d’ Arles, The Hong Kong International Photography Festival, and featured in Vogue Magazine. Deeply rooted in collaboration and care, J Davies creates work that is as emotionally resonant as it is politically intentional.
