Rik Versteeg (b. April 25, 1990, Drunen, Noord-Brabant) grew up in a creative family of photographers, discovering his passion at a young age through his grandfather’s analog camera and the travel slideshows of his grandparents.
In 2007 he began studying Audiovisual Production in Den Bosch, later continuing at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, where he embraced his queer identity and graduated in 2013 with a conceptual fashion series. Soon after, he launched his career as an independent artist.
Rik’s first solo exhibition, The Masquerade Ball (2019) at Qlick Gallery in Amsterdam, was followed by Sensitive Obscurities: Exploring the Queer Subconscious (2020). His work has since been shown at art fairs across the Netherlands, culminating in his photo book Mind Mirage (2024), an ode to the queer community.
