THE QUEER ARCHIVE FESTIVAL 2022

During the UK Covid-19 lockdowns the artist kept a daily visual diary in the form of digital collages or GIFs. HOMOPERSPECTIVES contains selected extracts from the visual diary.  Each individual GIF reflects upon themes such as mental health, the virus, (be)longing, (in)visibility, (im)possibilities and the day-to-day.

'Translucent Desires’ plays with layers of light and darkness and juxtaposes the delicate aesthetics of tattoos, the illustrative beauty of gay cruising, the sensuality of translucent x-rays photographs and kinky marble.

This exhibition is about subverting toxic masculinity in the queer community through reinvigorating femme-ness and all of its powers. But what is femme-ness in a patriarchial world? The goal of the exhibition is to bring together work that highlights all kinds of femininity, especially the failing femmes, the femmes without abs, the fatties with bellies, the femmes that ruin their make up; the bimbos and faggot himbos.
